“From the beginning of the first year, having hands-on workshop experience has been the best way for me to develop new skills but also make mistakes, learn from them and have fun.”
“It's amazing being able to work in an environment where everyone is creating their own work, and helping each other to develop through crits and just generally chatting has been so beneficial to my own practice.”

✨ Hi! My name is Nat and I am a second year BA Graphic Communication student. I’ve been working my way through my Year 2 (BA2A) coursework, including motion and campaign / identity work, and also currently working on a sticker collection on the side.
🌈 I’m also this years LGBT+ Liberation Officer and have been working on campaigning for inclusive and gender-neutral toilets on campus as well as helping to organise some talks from the Terrence Higgins Trust for LGBT History Month along with the Pride Society!
🌃 I’ve personally found that Norwich is a very LGBT+ friendly city, with great inclusive spaces, events and opportunities, as well as having support available. It’s a great place to be you and explore what that means.

Meet Charley 💛💚💙❤️💜🧡
🎮 Hello all! My name is Charley, and I am currently in my second year of a Game Art and Design Degree. I am also a vocal member of @nuapridesociety.
We just finished up our first unit of the year and I've produced some fantasy paintings I'm really proud of
Outside of my degree I want to stand up and make a difference, so I am planning a collaborative zine and will donate all funds to the Stonewall Charity.
🏳️🌈 My advice to followers is to support small businesses! Many of Norwich's small business owners are part of the LGBTQ+ community and have been running online due to the lockdown.
My instagram is @charleyjoon if you're interested in seeing my work. I hope you all have a wonderful 2021!
As LGBT+ History Month draws to an end, we're passing over our Instagram to introduce some of the members of the @nuapridesociety over the next few days to show you what they're all about and the important work they do. ...

James:
💛 My name is James and I study BA Film and Moving Image Production. As the President of the Pride Society I have held several events for students, including a Halloween Party, a Movie night and most recently a lecture from the Terrance Higgins Trust about sexual health. I have lots of plans in the future for the society as well, so join and find out more!
🎬 I recently finished work as the Director on a short film called BATHOS, about a man trapped in limbo and being forced to confront his past. It is very dark and brooding, as you can tell. Is good, go watch.
🏳️🌈 Norwich is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly places I’ve been to, so don’t feel embarrassed to show off your sexuality or gender in how you dress or look. There are great gay clubs and bars and events (when there isn’t a lockdown, of course!) and you won’t find it hard to find and make friends from every part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. And everyone loves fashion!
🙌 I’ve never felt ashamed of being gay, and aside from when I first came out, I’ve never been nervous about telling people my sexuality. I’m surrounded by extremely supportive friends and family and feel very lucky to be able to help others feel comfortable about who they are too. And anyone who tries to tell me it's wrong can get lost! ...
This stunning work featured by the UN @refugees Agency is by Syrian student @engy.jarrouj (BA Animation) 💛
Engy wrote her first book, 'Blue Birds' at 19 years old. The book is based on her experience of the displacement on children during wartime.
We are so proud of you Engy! ✨
"The war took everything away from us since I was six. We thought it would cease within sometime. It did not. The siege arrived at our city accompanied by fear, hunger and everything else that could scorch the heart of a little one like myself. Despite all of this, childhood kept resisting inside of me, but could it resist anymore? Can I attain hope despite everything? This book is our cry –we children– to the world; one amidst whose darkness we could reach the light, whose injustice we could reach hope." ...
